On September 26, starting at 3:30 pm, the “ALUMIAR” exhibition by Carolina Vieira will be open to the public at the MUDAS Gallery “Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira”, a project guardianship by Márcia de Sousa. This exhibition is based on an artistic residency held at the Museum and with the objective of showing to the regional public one of the youngest talents, in the plastic arts field, that Madeira has seen in recent years. Carolina Vieira exhibits individually for the second time, however, this is the first time that she presents herself in the Region with an individual project. “ALUMIAR” is part of a group of forty works in the field of painting and its premise is an aesthetic exercise around the landscape and the theme around the islands and their physical and mental territory.
In her artistic practice, Carolina uses the landscape to explore material aspects of her own painting, composition, form, transparency, light and color - as well as using it as a language that allows working with immaterial concepts such as the sublime, through images construction that are both imagined and real places. Images that use the landscape as an intention or as a narrative.
About this artist, it should be noted that she is a native of Madeira Island, graduated in Plastic Arts by the “Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto” and Master in Painting by the same institution.
This exhibition can be visited until November 23, 2020.
