Synopsis: 
It is the most famous film by Zurlini, a profoundly modern filmmaker, with a particular aura among the greats of Italian cinema, alongside an Antonioni or a Pasolini. Claudia Cardinale, who reveals her sensuality and wild beauty, is sublime in the Aida role, a young single mother who sings for a living. She meets Lorenzo, a 16-year-old man-child, son of the big bourgeoisie (Jacques Perrin, who would become Zurlini's fetish actor), who offers her his love, hiding from her that he is the lover brother who had just abandoned her. It is a meeting of two solitudes, inhabited by the bitter taste of the first love anxieties, by the impotence to overcome the weight of social fatality, and, at the same time, by the characters' strong instinct for survival.
