The initiative accompanies the school year, takes place in museums supervised by the “Secretaria Regional de Turismo e Cultura” and covers several municipalities in the Region, namely Ribeira Brava, Machico, São Vicente and Funchal.
After the school break for the Easter holidays, the “Quinta Magnólia Centro Cultural” will host, on April 19, another session of the musical project “Da Madeira ao Hawaii”, coordinated and performed by musicologist Vitor Sardinha.
The project includes musical workshops and recitals. In the cultural promotion activities, various topics are explored, from the Madeiran emigration to Hawaii, to the construction of musical instruments, the practice and insular musical genres.
As for the recitals, Vitor Sardinha travels through the “Rajão” repertoire, through time (the Renaissance, Baroque and classical periods), Madeiran Traditional Music, as well as the American songbook repertoire (from swing jazz to dance music from the 20th century).
The sessions take place in the morning, and institutions interested in participating in the sessions of this project should contact the institution where the sessions are held directly.
