Do you know that? In the building of the “Museu Etnográfico da Madeira”, a sunny house from the 17th century, the “Ribeira Brava Distillery Factory” was installed in the 19th century and that due to its technological duplicity, it is a testimony of an unique industrial heritage at European level?

A sugar cane mill and two hydraulic mills operated at the same time there, powered by the same levada and the same “cube”, which led the water, to the large vertical wheel of the mill and to the mill rollers. In order to safeguard this Industrial Heritage, the Regional Government of Madeira recovered the building and technological equipment and installed the museum there.
