Atlantic History Studies Centre Alberto Vieira Library

The Atlantic History Studies Centre Alberto Vieira (CEHA) was established by the regional decree law nº 20/85 of September 17th, under the scope of the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture. It is an institution of scientific investigation which aims at the coordination of the research and to make known the history of the Atlantic Islands.
The Atlantic archipelagos (Azores, Canary Islands, Cape Verde and São Tomé) are institutionally represented by Delegates in the Consultive Council.

The Atlantic History Studies Centre Alberto Vieira sets the goal to promote, to organize conditions and to increase the scientific research in the study-area of the history of the Atlantic Islands, in particular the history of Madeira Island.
The aim of the Atlantic History Studies Centre Alberto Vieira is to acquire, to conserve and to divulge the documental basis for research, both in digital and paper support. The ones to reach are, mainly, researchers, graduation students, postgraduation students, history teachers in addition to all who have interest in consulting the assets.
