DRABM opens to the public today, at 18:00h, the photography exhibition "Images and Memory of the Council of Ponta do Sol".
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, will be present at the inauguration.
This exhibition, the sixth organized within the scope of the project Images and Memory of the Municipalities of Madeira, aims to present various aspects of this locality. The published images – photographs and two postcards – belong to the Photographic Collection and the Illustrated Postcard Collection of the Madeira Archive and Library, and to the collection of the Madeira Photography Museum – Atelier Vicente’s, deposited at the same institution. They date back to a period of about a century – from the second half of the 1800s to the year 1975.
The “Images and Memory of the Municipalities of Madeira” project began in March 2019, as part of the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the Discovery of the Madeira and Porto Santo Islands, and has already featured five exhibitions, allusive to the municipalities of Calheta, from Câmara de Lobos, São Vicente, Machico and Santa Cruz.
