Itinerant exhibition of the “Museu Etnográfico da Madeira” within the scope of the dissemination project “O Museu Vai à Rua”. 
The so-called trapped fire already existed in the last century. It was very popular throughout the island and a mandatory presence in the camps.
In the past, it was common to display the fire in a public place and to organize a procession, accompanied by the band, to transport it to the camp.
The burning of the trapped fire, in the camps, was a real spectacle. The pyrotechnicians, using their imagination, presented several figures, namely luminous fans, ships to be rescued, wheels, dolls and the traditional pinwheel. Currently, the dolls (the old man and the old woman) and the pinwheel are still used.
