From July 6th to November 12th.
In the Temporary Exhibition Room of the Ethnographic Museum of Madeira.
In the past, the practice of the trousseau was essential for the realization of marriage and was one of the main “life goals” of many girls. These preparations began well in advance, in adolescence, or after entering the engagement phase.
In ancient times, the pieces that were part of the bride's trousseau were special. Decorated with Madeira embroidery and lace, like those on display in this exhibition, they were an invaluable asset that today enrich our cultural heritage. Some were used only on the wedding day and on important occasions, so they were kept in good condition, passing from generation to generation, having a great affective and symbolic value
