The Regional Secretariat for Economy, Tourism and Culture, through the Regional Directorate of Culture, and the Madeira Classical Orchestra Association present the last of the four concerts of the "Baroque in the North 2025" concert cycle.
The Funchal Baroque Ensemble & Gregório Rojas invite us on this final musical journey through the Baroque period, with a tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach. Spirituality in Instrumental Music is the core of this concert whose repertoire, in the context of Lent, invites attentive and reflective listening, allowing us to find in Bach's harmonic and melodic richness a path to spiritual elevation and transcendence.
2025 marks the 275th anniversary of the death of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music. His work, strongly marked by spirituality and contrapuntal rigour, spans the sacred and instrumental genres. 'Barroco a Norte 2025' reinforces the commitment to cultural decentralisation, bringing Baroque music to different venues in the north of the region.
Saturday, April 12the | 07:00 p.m., at the São Jorge Parish Church, Santana.
