2022.22Abril

April 22nd is World Earth Day, also known as Planet Earth Day or Mother Earth Day.
The date was created in 1970 by US Senator Gaylord Nelson. After verifying the consequences of the oil disaster that occurred in 1969 in Santa Barbara, California, the senator decided to hold a protest against the pollution of the Earth. Inspired by the protests of young Americans who were contesting the Vietnam War, Gaylord Nelson made efforts to put the issue of preserving the Earth on the American political agenda. The population joined the demonstration in force and more than 20 million Americans demonstrated in favor of preserving the land and the environment.
Officially, the celebration of this day was instituted on April 22, 2009, through resolution 63/278 of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
Currently, this day is celebrated in more than 190 countries and is celebrated by more than one billion people, who in a way have assumed their “commitment to the protection and the need to preserve natural resources, the environment and the sustainability of the Earth”
