The 33rd annual conference of ALA – American Literature Association – took place between the 26th and 29th of June in Chicago, USA. The JDPCC was represented through Bernardo de Vasconcelos’ paper entitled “John Dos Passos’s visits to Madeira - echoes from the local press” within the scope of the John Dos Passos Society panels at the aforementioned conference.
It was an opportunity to make the connection between John Dos Passos and Madeira known to American researchers and how these visits to the island (1905, 1921 and 1960) were reported in the regional press. Likewise, the work of the JDPCC in promoting the man and his work to the local public and to visitors.
