National Professional Firefighter's Day is celebrated on September 11th. This day aims to honor all professional firefighters and their corporations and highlight their work and contribution in protecting populations and providing care and support services. The choice of September 11th to commemorate the Professional Fireman's Day is related to the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York, in 2001. The first celebration of the National Professional Fireman's Day took place in 2008, in Setúbal. Since then, every year the date is celebrated on the 11th and a different location is chosen where the ceremonies of tribute to the brave firefighters take place.
