151st birthday of João Anacleto Rodrigues (n. “Estreito de Câmara de Lobos”, 13-07-1869; f. Funchal, 29-08-1948), a prominent trader in the Madeiran society of his time, he was also na amateur photographer with multiple interests and a pioneer in the introduction of cinema in Madeira. He recorded some of the most outstanding events on the island, as well as his landscapes that he sold in albums and postcards through the commercial establishment Bazar do Povo, of which he was a partner. On May 15, 1897, he promoted the first public session of an animator at the Municipal Theater of Funchal.
