We have associated to the World Grandparents Day, with the portrait of the daughter of Isilda Perestrelo and Alberto Camacho Brandão, along with her maternal grandmother (Justina Augusta Martins).
Although many countries celebrate this occasion on other days, Portugal, Brazil and Spain mark this anniversary together. This particular celebration has its origins in Portugal, with the mentor Ana Elisa Couto (1926-2007), a grandmother of 6 grandchildren, who for 16 years claimed the National Grandparents' Day. It achieved its aim with the approval, in the Assembly of the Republic, which made the date of July 26th the National Day of Grandparents, as this is the day of Santa Ana and São Joaquim, Maria's parents, grandparents of Jesus Christ and patron of grandparents.
