We have associated ourselves with the World Day for the Conservation of Nature with an image of a natural environment in Madeira, captured by Joaquim Augusto de Sousa (1853–1905).
This anniversary, which was created by the UN General Assembly, is also celebrated in Portugal as the National Day of the Conservation of Nature, which was established by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 73/98, of 29 June, to celebrate the anniversary of the instituition of the League for the Protection of Nature. It aims to make people aware about the mother nature problems and its urge to preserve it.
