The films “Pals First” (1926) stand out, for being the main protagonist for the first time; “Birds of Paradise” (1932), “Flying Down to Rio” (1933) where he plays opposite Fred Astaire and “Madame Du Barry” (1934) that mark his transition to sound cinema and international acclaim; “Wild Flower” (1942), a film that gives it notoriety in Mexico; “María Candelaria” (1943), who won the Grand Prix (today Palme d’Or) at the Festival de Cannes; “Flaming Star” (1960), which marks his return to North American cinema and where he plays Elvis Presley (1935-1977) and finally, “The Children of Sanchez”, for being his last film.
Of unparalleled beauty, she was married to screenwriter Jaime Martinez del Rio (1896-1928); with the director Cedric Gibbons (1893-1960), with the American producer Lewis Riley, having also maintained a relationship with the director Orson Welles (1915-1985).
Among several honorary awards, she won the “Silver Ariel Award” on 3 occasions (Best Actress) and the Golden Ariel Award in 1975, for her contribution to Mexican cinema.
