So named because it was probably the residence of the Cathedral’s (“Sé”) canons. The “murça” is a short cloak, worn by some clergy of the Catholic Church, and that covers the shoulders, part of the back and arms.

In this plan, the aforementioned street intersects “Avenida Zarco”, being visible a walkway that connected the “Golden Gate” (on the left) to the building of “Rocha Machado & C.ª”. In the background, is the chimney of “Padaria Alves”.

The group of florists in the foreground helps to determine that this image will have been captured after 1935, since the florists were forced to wear the regional costume from that date by city council decision.
