124th Christmas birthday (b. São Vicente, 11/20/1896, d. 01/24/1987), pedagogue and secondary school teacher. He was also a militia officer in the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps Artillery in France, during the First World War. Graduated from the “Faculdade de Matemática da Universidade de Coimbra”, he was appointed effective professor at Liceu José Estêvão in 1920 (Aveiro). He returned to Madeira in 1923, to teach at Liceu Jaime Moniz, where he became dean as soon as the following year. Later, he also assumed the direction of the “Escola do Magistério Primário” in Funchal. He held the post of provincial delegate of the “Mocidade Portuguesa da Madeira”, was a member of the General Board of the Autonomous District of Funchal, where he was part of the Executive Committee with the portfolio of public instruction. He chaired the “Quinta das Cruzes” Museum Committee and was a Directing Council member of the Madeira Concert Society. He received the degree of Public Order Instruction commander and by the resolution of the Regional Government nº 913/83, of October 20, 1983, he saw his name attributed to the renewed School of the 3rd cycle of Levada, which was inaugurated in the academic year of 1984/85, then already with secondary education.
