Sé, Funchal Municipality. On the left, a cluster of people can be seen in front of the old Reid's Carmo Hotel, where the “Grémio dos Insdustriais de Bordados da Madeira” also worked and adjoins this, the building where the United States Consulate was installed. In the background there is also a building of neo-Moorish architecture, known as the “Sinagoga do Funchal”, today with the door number 33 A. It will have been built at the beginning of the 20th century, in the area where the Hotel Lisbonense used to be, and it is uncertain whether this space ever functioned as a place of worship for the Jewish religion.
