The building where Madeira’s Parliament operates was inaugurated on December 4th, in 1987. To the ceremony attended the highest local and national entities. The Parliament’s library is located on the 1st floor, where the former customs agency use to be. It is now in a restructuring process.
This library is qualified to purchase, hold responsibility and promote scientific and technological information of national and foreign nature and of international organizations related to several areas of knowledge, the information regarding the activity of European institutions and agents and also, the information released by the media.
The library also ensures the existence and maintenance of a wide collection of the official Portuguese journals - ‘Diário da República’ - and official local journals – ‘JORAM’ - as well as the official reports concerning public meetings.
