The permanent exhibition "Caniço: From Field to the City" is made up of several documents, newspapers, posters, crafts and photographs, mostly authored by Mr. José de Sá, Caniço photographer for several decades. Thanks to this estate and its public release, it is possible this valuable exhibition of memories of people and places.
The Caniço was chosen by the first settlers for its proximity to the sea, and the fact that it is served in a large river, which facilitated the work in agriculture. In the 60s and following of the twentieth century, the town begins to turn. First a new tourist centrality and later a pole of great urban attraction. This collection illustrates the great change that operates from 60s in Canico, a true revolution in the way of living and coexisting.
