InvisibleMudas “The Principle of the (In)visible - The Madeira Contemporary Art Museum collection, a selection”, follows on from the previous exhibitions of the Museum's permanent collection - “Experience I and II” -, seeking to present a new interpretation on a narrative structure based on the MUDAS collection.

This exhibition brings to the light, in addition to a renewed look at the MUDAS collection, artworks of the collection which are less seen and a selection of acquisitions made in the last three years by the Museum, including pieces by Edgar Martins, Hélder Folgado, Daniel Melim, António Barros, Ana Perez-Quiroga, Miguel Palma, Beatriz Horta Correia, Pedro Cabrita Reis and Hugo Brazão. It also includes some of the works on deposit, such as the “untitled” pieces by Jorge Pinheiro from 1968 and “Aquiles” from 1981, belonging to the Novo Banco collection, the work “WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get)”, 2009, by Duarte Encarnação, or a set of cut plexiglass by Lourdes Castro, owned by CTT Portugal, also on deposit at MUDAS, among other works. It includes, painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, objects and installation, seeking to present a diachronic reading of the creative diversity that marks the last seventy years of contemporary artistic production on Mainland Portugal and the Islands, also highlighting the most recent artistic production carried out by Madeiran artists who, more recently, became part of the MUDAS.Museu collection.
