“The Before and the After” is the title of the virtual exhibition of the Universe of Memories João Carlos Abreu, to mark the International Day of Monuments and Sites 2020.

The photo / video description of this 19th century palace, belonging to the Regional Government of Madeira since 2002, aims to show the revitalization of the space that transformed a private residence into a cultural area. We can see that the transformations made in the building harmonize with each other, causing the architectural dialogue between the three different eras (19th, 20th and 21st centuries) to become obscured with the eclecticism that characterizes the entire exhibition collection.

As a cultural institution with its own philosophy and sometimes somewhat controversial, due to the peculiarity of its collection, we hope that this type of virtual exhibition can contribute to the credibility and sustainability of a multicultural location in the Region.
