Some notes about Bárbara Assis Pacheco, represented in the MUDAS Museum’s collection with a drawing in gouache and Chinese ink, dated 2003.

Bárbara Assis Pacheco was born in Lisbon, in 1973. She graduated in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture in the University of Lisbon, in 1997. Between 1997 and 2001, she completed the Drawing course and the advanced course in Plastic Arts at the Visual Communication & Art Centre (Ar.Co). Later, she completed her degree in Philosophy at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in the NOVA University of Lisbon.

She exhibits regularly since 1997 in collective exhibitions at various institutions, especially at the Árpád Szenes-Vieira da Silva Foundation; the Belém Cultural Centre, in Lisbon; and the Maus Hábitos space, in Oporto.

In 2003, she held her first solo exhibition, entitled "De partibus animalis", which took place at Sala do Veado (Deer Room), in Lisbon. Her work is represented in several public and private collections, such as that of the Modern Art Centre in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Banque Privée de Rothschild Europe, in Lisbon. In 1998, she won the 1st Prize for Jóvenes Creadores de Iberoamérica (“Young Creators of Ibero-America”), in Madrid.
